If writing yet another grant proposal during this time of year, as the days grow longer yet the cold winds still catch us unawares, then you might want to try your hand at writing poetry. ‘Community TechKnowledge‘ (CTK) has offered up some $25,ooo in support to those who write winning poems about their projects. The poem can be written by staff and/or clients of your organization (though, of course, it must be original).
Still more opportunities for your poem and your registered charity are available through the CTK’s expectation-bending appeal, entering its fourth year of the challenge.
The poem must be between four and eight lines, and the final deadline for submission is 28 March (Once you have poured your charity’s heart into your work, submit it here).
First Prize is $10,000, and the opportunity to have your words put to music by Bill Dillon, who established his own musical career as part of his personal recovery after spending 27 years in jail for a murder he did not commit. Moreover, your organization will receive two guitars signed by the members of Los Lonely Boys that are to be auctioned off for further fundraising.

Second Prize is $5000, and $1000 grants will be given away as well. Austin has long been renown for its popular-music scene, and thanks to CTK, your charity could be a cool member of that hot scene.
